Why is the CMS Displaying the Old Version of My Image/Document?
This may happen when a newer version of the same file was uploaded to the media manager. When this happens, the image or document becomes cached. A cache (pronounced 'cash'), is a temporary storage space that recalls the last known version of something (in this case, a file) so that it can be displayed quicker to returning site visitors. Most people are familiar with the term as it relates to their web browser, however this also affects the media manager.
The caching will only affect the WYSIWYG Editor. Please see visual comparison below.
WYSIWYG Editor
We highly recommend that you submit an upgrade request. We will supply your site with a shiny new upgrade that features a different look and several improvements to your editor and media manager, including a resolution to eliminate the caching problem.
In the meantime...
If you overwrite an existing file (as seen below), the original will still continue to display for a period of time. To avoid the cache entirely, make use of the method below:
Upload the media with a different file name
Make sure that prior to uploading, the new image/document is saved on your computer with a filename that differs from the original that is already in the manager (e.g. add a revision number, or a date at the end). This way, both the new and original versions will be available to you immediately, both on your computer and within the website.
