Copy an Existing Page

Modules, events and select other components can be duplicated with the click of a button. Unfortunately, this 'copy' feature is not available for pages, simply because two pages cannot share the same URL. Luckily, the task can still be completed using a short work-around method: copying and pasting the page's source code.

Q: What is source code?

A: Source code is the 'language' that your web browser reads, then translates to what you see and interact with on a website (text, images, links, etc.). The content within your page editor automatically generates into this code. By copying the first page's code and placing it into a second page, the content will appear exactly as it did on the first.

Access: Content>Page Manager>Page List.

Step 1: Copy Existing Page's Code

  1. Open the existing page's Content Editor tab.
  2. Select the Source option (reference the screenshots below to determine the location in your editor).

    WYSIWYG Editor

    CK Editor

  3. Click anywhere into the editor, then on your keyboard, hold CTRL + A to highlight all (or right-click>Select All), then CTRL + C to copy (or right-click>Copy) - Mac users will use CMD + A, CMD + C, respectively.
  4. Close out of the editor window; no need to save.

Step 2: Create New Page/Paste Code

  1. Select Add New Page.
  2. Enter in a page name.

Make this a similar title to the original. Employ phrases like "copy", "backup" or even the year so that you can differentiate between the two.

  3. Click Save & Continue.
  4. Access the Content Editor tab and select the Source option.
  5. On your keyboard, hold CTRL + V to paste (or right-click>Paste) - Mac users will use CMD + V.
  6. Return to the display editor.
    • CK Editor - Click the Source button from the toolbar.
    • WYSIWYG Editor - Click the Design tab in the bottom left.
  7. Make any necessary adjustments, then use the Apply/Save & Close buttons to save changes.
