Cropping & Resizing Images

As the website does not have a built-in image editor, there is a free online resource we recommend called Pixlr.

This article will walk you through cropping and resizing images using the Pixlr software.

  1. Go to Pixlr.com/editor.
  2. Select the Open Image From Computer option and double-click the image.

If you get the message, "You'll need Flash Player to run Pixlr Editor", click the "here" link in the following line to run Flash within your browser.

Cropping

  • Your cropping tool will be selected by default.
  • Place your cursor in the upper left of your intended crop, then click with your mouse and hold.
  • While continuing to hold, drag down and to the right to generate the cropping grid.
  • Release your hold on the mouse. From here, if necessary:
    1. Click and drag one of the blue squares on the corner to expand or condense the cropping grid.
    2. Hover your mouse anywhere in the grid, then click, hold, then move your mouse to re-position the grid as a whole.
  • Once you are ready to crop, hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
  • Reduce Image Size

    • Access: Image>Image Size.
    • Adjust the Width or Height to the appropriate dimension. The opposite dimension will adjust accordingly.

Do not uncheck the Constrain Proportions checkbox. Leaving it selected keeps your image from becoming distorted or pixelated.

    • Select OK.

    Save

When saving, apply a NEW name, as to not overwrite the original image.

    • Access: File>Save.
    • Apply a new Name, then choose OK.

As Pixlr is not our product, we cannot support it. If you have any additional questions, please reference their  support database.
