Add News Article

  • Access: Content>News Manager>Article List.
  • Click Add News Article in the bottom left corner.
  • Type in the Title of the article, then click Save & Edit.

The following sections break down the elements of each tab. Once all changes are saved, be sure to click the 'Light Bulb' icon to the left of the article so it turns on and becomes visible.

Details

The article title and additional information.

  • Enter a Title. This will display as the link in your news list (and news feed module, if created) on the public view of the website.
  • The Subtitle will display beneath the Title on the news detail page.

This feature may or may not display; depending on your website's template.

  • You can assign the Author to your user account (User), which is the default, No Author, or choose to enter a name (Specify Name).
  • If the article was written by someone outside of your company/organization (i.e. news site, blog, etc.), enter the originating source's name in the Location/Source field.
  • If you've used the above bullet to indicate the original source of the article, supply the link to the original article (if available) via the Location/Source Link field. This will appear in the article detail view.
    • Use As Direct Link? is highly recommended to leave at No. If you've included an entry in both the Location/Source and Location/Source Link fields, then setting the feature to Yes would link to the original article on the external website as opposed to the article on your website. When it is set to No, it will display the link of the original source, should the visitor choose to view it.

Content

Where your teaser and full article will display.

  • Introduction (Teaser) should be one sentence describing the article, teasing the visitor to read the full article.
  • Full Content is where the article's entire content will be inserted.

Images

Add pre-positioned images to the article. These will display within the article itself, in addition to appearing along with the teaser in the main list (type "/news" after your website address).

  • Image Position will determine where the image will be placed in the article, relative to the text. If Left or Right, the text will wrap around the image.

Add Image

  • Click Add Image to Article.
  • Enter a Caption if desired. With most templates, this will display beneath the image.
  • Choose the File tab and click the 'Image Source' icon on the right.
  • Locate and double-click the image to select it.
  • Click Save Image.

Categories

Organize articles into categories. On the public view of your website, each category has a unique page, listing the articles assigned to it.  For more information, see News Categories.

  • From the drop-down menu, choose the associated category.
  • Click the Add to Category button.
  • Repeat for additional categories.

Search Engines

Provide information to aid your article in search engine rankings. For details on these fields, please see their respective section in this article.

  • Meta Keywords
  • Meta Description

Related Articles

Select existing articles to suggest. These will appear with a link below your current article.

  • Click Add Related Article.
  • Select the appropriate article from the Related Article drop-down menu.
  • By checking Relate Articles In Reverse Too, the articles will display on each others' detail page, essentially eliminating the need to go through the same steps for the other article.
  • Click Save. (You may add multiple related articles).

Schedule

Choose a time to publish, archive, and remove articles.

None of the following are required. If not selected, Publish At will be submitted at the current time, making it available as soon as the 'Light Bulb' icon is set to active.

  • Publish At date/time can be a time you choose to publish in the future, or it can be a way of backdating the article.
  • Archive At will take the article out of the current news list.
  • Remove At will remove the article from the public news sections altogether.
